There are a lot of movies coming out this year that I really want to see and I thought I'd tell you all what movies I am looking forward to most and why. In order to make this suspenseful and whatnot, I'm going to list off these movies in ascending order of how excited I am to see them.
It should be noted that one movie that I would have put on this list if I had written this post in January is Zootopia. Since it's out already and since I'm probably going to see it very soon I won't actually include it. This post will just include movies that haven't been released yet.
So here we go:
Batman v Superman
I honestly don't think this movie is going to be very good. I didn't like the Man of Steel and it just looks like destruction and violence and seems dumb overall. It makes this list simply because I am curious about what it will be like. DC is so far behind Marvel and this is finally their attempt at the Justice League. I am very interested in seeing what they make of it. I'm not expecting anything much, but I hope I'm wrong.
Doctor Strange
Whenever the first trailer comes out for this movie I'll probably get way more excited about it. Of all the Marvel heroes, Doctor Strange is one I am less familiar with. Still, I'm pumped that they are adding more super heroes (we didn't get many in phase 2) and I think it sounds very interesting. Plus it's Benedict Cumberbatch.
Finding Dory
It's Pixar, it's the sequel to Finding Nemo, and it looks good. Need I say more?
The Jungle Book
I grew up watching the original Jungle Book cartoon on VHS at my grandma's house. I loved singing the songs from that movie so much! My family still doesn't own that movie and I haven't seen it in years but it still has a lot of nostalgia. After the incredible Cinderella remake last year I am just super excited to see where they go with this one.
Jason Bourne
Oh, my, goodness! When this trailer came on during the super bowl I was working at the computer. I glanced at the TV and thought to myself "Oh hey, another action film I probably don't care about." Several seconds later I heard the one or two notes that they played of that Jason Bourne song (Extreme Ways). I jerked my head around so fast. Then when the one guy says "Is that Jason Bourne?" I was just... I love the Bourne movies! I knew that there was going to be a new one this year, but I didn't know Matt Dameon was going to be in it and there wasn't a trailer yet so I hadn't gotten excited yet. Well I'm excited
Captain America: Civil War
Ok, I am just so stoked for this movie. I'm team Cap all the way, but I love Spider-Man so I'm kind of bummed that it looks like he'll be on Iron Man's side. It looks so crazy cool and also really sad. I mean to see these characters actually really mad at each other... I think that's where Civil War is going to be better than Batman v Superman. People might think that the two are just doing the same thing, but each of Marvel's characters are fleshed out. At this point they all have backstory with each other so when they fight, real emotions happen. There are hard moral choices that the characters are going to have to make. That is intriguing. On the other hand, Batman v Superman just looks like: Superman is too powerful, let's go kill him. I can't wait to see how Civil War plays out.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Finally we get to my most anticipated film this year. To be fair it was a hard choice between this one and Civil War. When I get right down to it though, I simply love Star Wars more than Marvel. Besides, this is the first Star Wars film that isn't part of the numbered episode saga and I am anxious to see how it turns out. It's the first in a line of one-offs that will come out on the off years between the numbered films. As far as I can tell, it's the story of a rebel group that steals the plans for the first Death Star. In this context, it should lead right into A New Hope. So exciting and different. One big difference in this film from all the Star Wars movies thus far is that John Williams isn't doing the music. "What will that be like I wonder? I just can't wait for December. It's like a new holiday every year. Star Wars Movie Day!
Well, that's all the movies I'm most excited about in 2016. I know I'm going to see quite a few more movies than just these, but these are the ones I'm looking forward to most.
Thank you all so much for reading my post.
